Policies for Class

Any student with an excused absence from school or excuse from class participation will be required to make-up the points to get credit for class(es) missed. The students will be able to gain points for the quarter through written and/or skill tests. A written summary of any sports article (relating to the current lesson plan) from a newspaper or magazine will earn 5 points. The summary should be at least -6-8 sentences in length and include a copy of the article. A sports article taken off the Internet must be at least one page in length about an activity we have done in class in the past week. This article must also include a 6-8 sentence summary and a copy of the article. The student will earn 5 points. The student may also gain points by running laps around the basketball court in the main gym after class has been dismissed to dress. Two laps will be worth one point. Make up points must be completed by Friday of the week following that in which they were missed to get credit. If you are out sick or have a planned absence, you know what needs to be done to make up for missed points. It will be the responsibility of the student to earn required points. Every student in the class can earn a good grade by participating each day and making up points for missed classes.

The student will be deducted points for not wearing proper attire for class. A deduction will be given to a student NOT having tennis shoes to wear. Also, tennis shoes should be tied before class and remain tied during the class period.

Participation due to an illness or injury:

A student well enough to be in school is generally well enough to be dressed and participating in class. Any exception to this will be handled on an individual basis. A note from a parent is required to excuse a student due to injury or illness. It will be accepted for a maximum of three consecutive days. To be excused longer than three days, a doctor’s note is required. A student who has become ill at school will discuss the problem with me before the start of class and a decision will be made as to the best course of action for the student to take.
